Painter Markus Weggenmann started with solo shows in 1987 and has been shown in group shows since 1992. First part of shows in Switzerland and Germany, his work expanded more international since 2000. Weggenmann’s works are part of important institutional and private collections such as Kunsthaus Zurich, Haus Konstruktiv, Zurich, Kunstmuseum Bonn, Kunstmuseum Singen, Lenbachhaus, Munich, Collection Credit Suisse, Collection Hyundai, South Korea or AKZO Nobel Art Foundation, The Netherlands. Having started with conceptual stripe paintings, followed by high gloss paintings on aluminum, Weggenmann developed his work with side steps to tapestry and sculpture up to a back-to-the-roots distemper on canvas painting. Always investigating various aspects of the intensity and scope of colour, Weggenmann’s work is highly charged reactive substance that wraps the viewer in a kind of atmospheric spatial grasp.
